Just recently we heard the news that Halle Berry and long-time beau and baby-daddy Gabriel Aubry had split up months ago. They had managed to keep the split a secret until RadarOnline.com broke the story about their break-up and that they're both seeing a lawyer to work out financial and custody issues. Currently, they have joint-custody of their 2-year old daughter, Nahla Ariela Aubry.
The joint-custody issue came to a head when Gabriel learned that Halle was planning a three-month movie shoot in South Africa starting in July 2010. That would mean he wouldn’t be able to spend time with Nahla for the three months while the Oscar-winning actress was away working on a film. That was just the breaking point.
Apparently, over the last few weeks, he had a hard time getting time with his daughter. He began exploring his legal options to get permanent custody! An unnamed source said he was ‘really getting sick of it’ and was not willing to not see his daughter during Halle’s move to South Africa during July, August and September. The source said that he was to the point of exploring his options to get full permanent custody of the little girl. The source also said that he is determined to be a ‘regular, full time figure in her life.’
And so, this is where the current Halle Berry custody battle has come to- at a standpoint. Neither parents are willing to not see Nahla for the three months while Halle films in South Africa. Rumor has it that it started getting pretty nasty with each parent seeing attorneys and looking at legal options,etc.
Halley Berry and Gabriel Aubry finally came up with a solution that will hopefully work well for all involved. The solution: they have decided for Halle to pay Gabriel to be Nahla’s full-time nanny while she is shooting the film in South Africa. The three of them will live in an enormous house that Halle has rented to stay in while she’s there. Friends say Gabriel and Halle haven’t been on very good terms lately and they are concerned as to how this arrangement will work. Still, both parents love Nahla and will do whatever it takes to make it work for her sake. If they are unable to live under the same roof, Halle has agreed to rent a property close by for Gabriel to live. Under that contingency plan: he’ll watch Nahla while Halle is working and then return to his place at night. With the Halle Berry custody battle heating up, we wonder just how 'amicable' the split between the two really was?!
