Glam: Thank you for chatting with us, Tell us-
Who is big Gina?
Big Gina: Who is Big Gina ???.. Umm I’m Big Gina
the Diva.. The Entrepeneur... the female party promoter... the event queen.. The
CEO of Big Gina Entertainment.. Loving mom.. College graduate.. Loyal friend..
God fearing woman and Brooklyn's Boss chick!
Glam: How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
Big Gina: It's been over 20 years since I fist
got bit by the promoting bug lol it was at my first 21st birthday I made such a
great profit I decided to pursue it as a hobby and a few years later a career
in promoting was born and then created Big Gina Entertainment marketing and
promotions
Glam:In a male dominated industry, how easy is it for you-or is it?
Big Gina:Believe it or not it's not very easy at all,it's just like the corporate world people rather do business with a man nd that's it!But I'm a dominatrix with chains and whips in this business kicking doors in so i will"laughing"
Glam: where are you originally from?
Big Gina: I'm Brooklyn all day born and raised
in Bedford Stuyvesant
Glam: your well respected in the game. How do you maintain that and why do you think you get so much respect?
Big Gina: I appreciate the respect I get
especially being a female into this game it's rough but I have taken the bumps
and bruises along the way and have paid my dues, I give respect so I demand
respect.
Glam: what’s one of the weirdest moments you’ve encountered with a celebrity you worked with?
Big Gina: Wow that's funny, the weirdest thing
that has happened with a celeb was at Area Lounge in Queens at the time I was
promoting Kiss Saturdays and we featured Lil Kim aka Queen Bee and she was
escorted to the ladies room and because it was a public bathroom it was total
chaos trying to get her inside, so always thinking on my feet I quickly grabbed
her and took her to a private restroom of coarse along side her entourage,
anyway while in the restroom the lights went out I don't know what happened I
think someone hit the wall switch by accident but everyone was silent accept
Lil Kim’s bodyguard who yelled WTF is going on? After a few seconds I found the
switch turned the lights back on it's funny now but at the time I must say Lil
Kim was gracious throughout that ordeal she never panicked, and later thanked
me for being a gracious host
Glam: Your friendship with Dougie Fresh seems like it's coming from far, how did you meet him?
Big Gina: Umm really? I
guess it's our immediate chemistry because he's sincerely a genuine person and I
have great respect for him as an artist I've actually seen Dougie around for
years but actually met him just over a year ago when we booked him t perform at
Area Lounge and so any chance I can work with him as an artist it's my pleasure
because it's an honor to call him my friend and he's without a doubt the
greatest entertainer by far.
Glam: Do you think being a promoter has it ‘ups and down’ Tell us one of your
‘down’ moments?
Big Gina: Yes it absolutely has it's down
moments, I tell people all the time you have to have a passion for this game
and love it with your whole heart in order to be successful but it can also
hurt you when emotions are involved, this game can be grimy and money can
change people. I've regretfully lost great friendships, reasons may vary but bottom
line it was all because of this game. Everybody don't want to see you succeed
Glam: Tell us what is your biggest event so far?
Big Gina: I’ll be honest with you I’ve done so
many incredible events over the years but my greatest event hasn't happened
yet... stay tuned!!! WINKK
Glam: Do you have any advice for other female promoters getting into the game?
Big Gina: My advice to any female trying to get
into the promoter's world is to stay true to yourself and your visions, be
humble and motivated by honor "not greed" because the money will come
but honor is your true reward
Glam: have you ever experience any bias because
of your sex or image?
Big Gina: As a woman in this game absolutely it's people that will
show Bias in meetings and contracts but I stand my ground because I can be just
as ruthless if needs be, but often enough I don't have to go there I'm well
rounded and well respected from most of my peers who now realize I’m here to
stay I’m not going anywhere lol, but a lot of what people do is just plain
ignorance on their part, unfortunately we live in a society where image is
everything and growing up as a plus size girl was never easy but in most cases I’m
well received I’m not ashamed of who I am, I’m a diva in my own right and no
one has ever blatantly shown me any less than respect I deserve.
Glam: You look like you know the street very well, how as that
impact who you are?
Big
Gina: Yes, unfortunately coming from the streets I've endured a great deal of
heartaches, lost of loved ones friends turning to drugs, and almost losing my
own life in the streets, but determined to give myself and my children a better
life I evolved from my way of thinking and turned what I've learned and
survived into my ambition and goals that life was a curse, this life is a gift
but I’m thankful for the knowledge of the street because you need that to
maintain this life, I’ll be truthful it's extremely hard to leave the streets
behind no matter what aspect of the industry you choose, growing up in the hood
was exciting to me. Flashy cars, big jewelry, if your name ring bells you could
go anywhere and everywhere with no fear and that was the adrenaline rush but
now I take that same adrenaline and put it into my promotions the more my
supporters come out and enjoy my events the greater I aspire to be it's all
from the streets for the streets now and I’m showing people that although I’m
street smart imp book smart as well gaining knowledge and inspiration from a
mom that acquired her doctrines degree (PHD) I aspire to utilize my degree from
(in college) as well as "the school of hard knocks" to create the
best of both worlds and to win.
Glam: what are your favorite Hip- Hop, R&B
and/or Reggae artists?
Big Gina: Umm that's hard I don't have one fav love Jay-z, Biggie,
Lil Kim, Tupac, Nelly, Biz, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Queen Latifah, and of course
NAS. My fav reggae artist Sean Paul but I’m old school so I love Maxi Priest
and Shabba Ranks "laughing"
Glam: your persona is so nice and loving, what
do you tell your haters?
Big
Gina: Awww thanks sweetie I appreciate that and yes, I do show a lot of love to
everyone who receives it some people don't know what love is, we don't know how
they grew up or what situations they been through to make them so bitter, but I
don't acknowledge my haters because I was born in a two parent loving home
raised by god fearing parents so I wasn't taught hate or prejudice I was taught
to be loving and caring to others. I really feel sorry for others that are
miserable and mad, I’m happy I’m living the life god set up for me and I believe
people fear the unknown so don't hate come get to know me feel free to apply
#TeamBigGina. You can get a check too lol
Glam: we admire a woman who is a go-getter, what
drives you to success?
Big Gina: I'm driven by nature always been a
hustler, go getter, a boss, I have many goals but my number 1 goal in life is
to be happy, my drive for success comes from watching my kids smile when I can
take them on trips to Gucci stores or when I’m flying business class to Las
Vegas or getting a bill and reading zero balance or taking my team on trips or
paying for my children's education. Those are some of the things that aspire me
to be successful. I'm ambitious getting money is in my blood. Being broke is
not an option, that's what drives me and I have not yet began to make my mark
on society. *** BIG GINA INTERNATIONAL Coming Soon
