GROOVING IN THE PARK,NOT SO GROOVING!

‘Grooving in the park’, had the park but not the groove!! The production team received advice from many different sources, some worked and many failed. The VIP and Press Area was all in one, so there was nothing special about being a part of press/media. The tent for the press/media was a ‘prop’ for the concert; not one celebrity or artist gave an interview!! This was misleading for the various media groups that attended the event. Not to mention the lineup, it was awkwardly done, International Artist- Boys 2 Men came on stage  early and  gave a good performance. Jimmy Cliff  was surprising great,Beenie Man was ok like always. In between band change there was no form of music or entertainment,so that was another kill switch.
However, the overall production was not properly orchestrated. There were too many rules that didn’t make any sense. Gladys Knight closed the show with a some what weak performance; as a result many people walked out. We are now convinced that many of these artists think Caribbean people are overly aggressive and will attack them. Gladys Knight had back stage on lock; she went from trailer to stage and stage to trailer. These are the same artist that wants us to buy the music so that can remain rich, but they treat their fans like feces!! They take our money but the only time they come close to us, is when their album is releasing, the way she  was guarded backstage one would think the President himself was there. Our only highlight of the evening was ‘The Door Restaurant’, who provided round the clock free food for all VIP and press. As for the pictures, it was difficult to take pictures of the celebrity artists. We took mostly pictures of the patrons- which was like searching for a needle in a hay stock to find a few fashionable one's!
As the concert came to an end, Glam wanted to see who shared similar opinions- that the show was luke warm. The survey showed that ages 50 and up thought it was great, and the younger age thought it was boring! We really hope the production team learns from all their mistakes for next year.
PS. Whoever was in charge of ticketing, the arm band did not make a difference! So many people were able to pass through the fence. Next time you should have  arm band that scans!
